Smartphone is a technology that has become more popular than ever in the last two decades. Some people say that smartphones help education by providing constant connectivity, instant information access, and entertainment, making learning and having fun easier. However, others argue that smartphones causes a lot of downsides at school because they are distracting, they can be used as tools to cheat during exams, and provoke cyberbullying. In my opinion, smartphones have truly revolutionized education rather than distracting students and make them do poorly at school.
Some people argue that smartphones help student to organize and use their time more effectively. Most phones have calendars and notes that students can write their own timetables down. Some smartphones even notify the users about what they should do at a set time, so students can easily follow their schedules. Smartphones also helps students access a wide range of information instantly. Phones offer students Internet access and a wealth of information, making it a great tool for researching and doing projects at school.
Other people argue that phones causes distraction. Smartphones can be automatically opened when there are notifications from social media platforms, causing endless disruptions for students in class. Even if the students is brave enough to not touch their phones, they are still distracted by thinking about phones. Smartphones can also eventually lead to cyberbullying, especially among teenagers. Using mobile phones at school can make cyberbullying more prevalent, as they are always online and more vulnerable to others’ harassment.
I believe that smartphones have truly revolutionized education, not distracting students and make them perform badly at school. Smartphones enable a quick and easy way for the school officials to communicate and share important information with students, especially when the information is urgent and it is not easy to talk to students directly. Smartphones make caring for students easier. Some parents have their children to wallk or ride to school, so they are often worried and have no idea whether their children have arrived or not. Also, parents can easily call students when they want them to do something or come home.
I firmly believe that smartphones have take education to another level by providing mass knowledge, connectivity, and caring responsibilities. Even there are so many drawbacks of smartphones at school, the advantages still outweigh them.
