As the world’s population increases day by day, people who are famished and those who need help rise accordingly. While these situations are occurring throughout the world, there are people who keep pets and shower them with love. From these two cases, there are those who claim that pets are lavishly accessorized by their owners and that instead of doing so, they should donate to fellow people, who are malnourished globally. In my opinion, people should have complete access to their wills and act according to it. In other words, whether people decide to spend their money on their pets or donate to alleviate world hunger, depends solely on their choice.
However, as there is a saying, “Enough is medicine, too much is harmful,” taking extreme measures in everything eventually leads to demise. I’ve seen people who are oblivious to their surroundings and do whatever they want, like keeping pets and taking care of them like their own children with luxuries, and ignore whether people are in a pinch or not. In a way, it can be said that they are indulging in selfish desires. But can we blame them? Of course not.
It is a matter of fact that raising pets is a thousand times better than donating to wherever the funds might go. Firstly, we have to consider the fact that if world hunger can be solved by donating all our money or not. Clearly, the answer’s no. Moreover, even if we contributed to the globally famished people, we don’t know for sure that the funds we donated will be sent directly to those people. Taxes, expenses, and other costs, maybe our money might get used there which is unreliable unless from a trustful source. Secondly, what will we get back after donating to people we don’t even know? What I’m trying to say is that we can’t tell apart people if they are good or bad by looking at them. People’s greed is like a pitch black hole, which is endless and when we don’t donate anymore, they might forget all the goodwill that we’ve done in the past. But when we raise pets, we gain absolute loyalty and obedience. Pets are and will always be good friends of people and they guard our houses, keep us away from strangers, and add a positive contribution to society.
In conclusion, pets are more faithful, cute, and loyal to us, humans when humans such as ourselves are pretty unpredictable. Thus, I believe that keeping pets is a far wiser decision than donating to humans who we don’t even know as we’re not heroes.
