With the rise of space tourism popularity, some people believe that authority should prioritize funding for space exploration, while others think that government should focus more on Earth issues such as climate change and poverty. While space exploration can bring certain benefits such as new data about cosmic elements, I believe that authority should focus more on Earth issues.
On the one hand, space explorations can bring substantial data about universe. This data may explore and establish new laws of the universe, which is crucial for the science. As a result, we will understand the universe and how it works. Furthermore, we can develop our technologies and create new opportunities for further researches. This means that we might know about potential danger and prepare for it with a minimal risk. For example, with new technology we can develop satellites, which would reduce the meteorites risk.
On the other hand, I personally believe that government should pay more attention to the Earth problems. Today’s environmental, economic and social issues are essential to solve, because them directly affect people and animal lives in harmful ways. As a result, problems such as climate change and poverty lead to a decline in a standard of living, loss of biodiversity and mass extinction. This means that humanity have to focus on the problems on a Earth at first, rather than spend all attention to the space. For instance, climate change affects animal natural habitats, which leads to the extinction of particular species.
In conclusion, although both views have merits, I think that governments should prioritize the problems on Earth, because them provide more long-term benefits for humanity and animal lives.
