It is a fact that an increasing number of young people choose to live independently after graduating from high school. In my opinion, this trend has more advantages than disadvantages, which will be discussed below.
Regarding the disadvantages, two are particularly noticeable. Firstly, there is a concern about the impact on the real estate market and the environment due to the growing demand for accommodations in society. This could lead to rising property prices, expansion of residential areas, and potential housing crises or deforestation issues. Secondly, young people may struggle to find adequate emotional support, as their parents often serve as trustworthy confidants and advisors. The lack of daily face-to-face interactions can exacerbate communication and emotional connections between parents and children.
However, these disadvantages can be outweighed by the following advantages. One benefit is that living alone helps young individuals develop positive personality traits like independence, especially in terms of problem-solving skills. For example, they may learn to fix broken pipes or household appliances without relying on their parents or other adults. Another advantage is the reduced need for parental supervision. While living with their families, young adults might encounter conflicts over hosting noisy parties or coming home late, but living independently can decrease such tensions and discomfort within the household.
In conclusion, although there are many positive aspects to this trend, I believe that its negative impacts are more significant.
