There is a tendency of pursuing some luxurious brands of cars, clothes and other items amid people. This essay includes some reasons for it and explains why this trend is negative.
There are numerous reasons causing this trend. The desire to own premium products with high quality is an apparent reason. Nevertheless, its underlying is societal pressure, which is some society’s norms and expectations which place high value on materialism. In fact, after meeting the necessities such as food, accommodation… People have the intention of following luxurious objects namely cars, clothes, accessories…from opulent brands including Porsche, Dior, Channel,… in order to show their status.
From my perspective, it might give rise to some negative impacts. People who have poor financial management skills may face with a mounting burden of debt, resulting in bankruptcy. Additionally, if the community is filled with materialists, there is every likelihood that the shallow relationship and social disconnection can be created, give rise to superficial relations, leading to loneliness and even depression.
In conclusion, the demand to own superior goods along with the pressure from social standards generate some detrimental effects such as financial hardship, the loss of the meaning of life… Therefore, it is necessary to maintain your own principles and strive for true happiness.
