In contemporary society, interest in higher education is rising, so individuals are starting to compete for university places. People are drived to study at university due to better career job positions and finansial security. Personally, I believe that it is positive development because it encourages self-development.
There are several reasons why students are choosing to study at universities. Initially, more and more employers are starting to choose graduates who have higher education and special skills which can be required from university education. For example, employers may select the skilled and educated workers, who have finished studying at university, than just graduates of school or innate talants. Therefore, students often seek to get high education to get the best job position. Moreover, such jobs often may offer high salary which plays an important role for individuals who need a well-paying job.
From my perspective, it is considered as a welcome aspect. As more people try to get into prestigious and target universities, universities may be selective. The low acceptance rate encourages students to study hard and seek new opportunities. Respectively, it makes individuals to develop themselves and compete with other students to become well-educated, quallified, competent, and proficient in the labour market.
In the light of these considerations, competition for university places is increasing due to the wish of well-paying and stable job positions. In addition, it is believed as a positive development because it contributes to the motivation for studying and working hard to have ideal jobs that individuals want.
