Nowadays, the tradition of family structures is disappearing, and living alone has become the new norm. My believe is that living in a family offers more to the individuals than living by themselves.
In truths, living alone could offer flexibility of location. For example, if a single man finds a high paying job in the other parts of the country, moving there by himself involve significantly less hurdles and costs compared to if he were to relocate his entire family with him. Furthurmore, being single and having no dependents could also open doors such as allowing a highly focused pursuits of one’s education and career since less time has to be spent on caring for others in the home. However, this could come with a cost of loneliness and existential crisis down the line.
In fact, studies suggest that loneliness could be detrimental to one’s mental health which in turn affects the physical body as badly as smoking a pack of cigarrette a day. Having no family members around also made people lose meanings in life as in the later stages, having children to pass down one’s legacy could be the ultimate wish for a person, and being alone robs the person of this opportunity and could exacerbate mental health issues and existential crisis espeacially during advanced years. No matter how much money one makes, it can never fully heal a broken body, only to manage symptoms and prolong the unhealthy lifespan instead of optimizing health span.
All in all, although it is common to have no family to live with in the modern day because of the flexibility and career-focused life styles it offers, the psychological health downsides of living alone are heavy enough to justify the reasons for co-existense with close-knit family members being the superior option.
