In recent years, the trend of solo individual households has become increasingly prevalent among the population. In my view, the advantages of this trend significantly outweigh its disadvantages because of the self-reliance it teaches.
On the one hand, there are certain drawbacks to this development. The main disadvantage is that living alone can affect mental health or psyche, especially for the older population. For example, without family members, the older generation cannot quickly become accustomed to a new place and it can be difficult to live alone. Consequently, this can cause mental stress. Another issue is the higher cost of living per person, as not a lot of people can afford to purchase apartments or houses. Moreover, they do not have a generous pension and must be always saving funds for their future, grandchildren, and nutritious food for their health.
On the other hand, I believe the benefits are far more significant. Firstly, living alone offers complete freedom and total independence. This freedom can lead to accelerated personal growth, as individuals learn to cook, budget, and maintain a home independently. To illustrate, studies show that adults who have lived alone are generally more self-confident than people who live with family in their decision-making. Secondly, it allows for quiet concentration, personal reflection, and peace of mind. Moreover, you can also breathe a sigh of relief.
In conclusion, despite some minor negative consequences, I believe the advantages of living alone are much more apparent and more beneficial because they provide invaluable opportunities for personal growth and self-confidence.
