It is often argued that life in urban areas has become much of a challenge. Although there is some truth to that statement, I think qualities of life in cities have made it easier for residents in terms of education opportunities and career prospects. This essay illustrates some advantages and drawbacks of life in the big cities.
There are numerous benefits of living in rural areas. Firstly, developed regions have better basic amenities such as healthcare, education,and accommodation. The fundamental facilities are necessary for a living because they make our lives easier, more comfortable and more efficient. They save time and effort by helping us with daily tasks, support learning and work through modern technology. For example, a wash machine saves hours of housework, while the Internet allows people to study and work from anywhere. As a result, people have more free time and enjoy a better quality of life. One of the biggest advantages is better education and career opportunities because they have more prestigious schools, universities and companies. This allows people to develop their knowledge, skills and professional experience. For example, many students move to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi to attend top universities. After graduating, they can apply for jobs at multinational companies with higher salaries and better career prospects. Therefore, living in a city gives people a better chance to achieve their educational and career goals.
However, this trend is also accompanied by significant drawbacks. One major drawback relates to overall health. Most developed cities are now polluted because of heavy traffic and factories. Breathing polluted air for a long time may lead to respiratory diseases, allergies, and other health problems. For example, people living in large cities with heavy traffic often breathe in polluted air every day, which increases the risk of asthma and other lung diseases. Therefore, pollution can reduce people’s quality of life and have negative effects on their long-term health. In addition, another disadvantage is the high cost of living. People have to spend more and more money on rent, food, transport, and other daily expenses. For example, renting an apartment in a big city is usually much more expensive than renting one in a small town or the countryside. Many people have to spend a large part of their income on housing. Therefore, the high cost of living can put financial pressure on people and make life more stressful.
In conclusion, although living in a big city has some disadvantages, such as pollution and a high cost of living, I believe the advantages, including modern amenities and better education and career opportunities, outweigh the drawbacks.
