It is widely believed that the production method of food is not really important, while the price of it is the only thing they are concerned about. From my perspective, there are still other aspects apart from the price that people should carefully consider before buying food, such as the origin and taste.
First, it is clear that caring about how much you have to pay for a meal is vital. Most young individuals only buy food that is cheap like junk food rather than good for their health. It is mainly because with the same amount of money, having a meal from a convenient store takes less time than purchasing ingredients to cook. In some families, parents have to struggle with financial issues. Hence, they may buy ingredients which are close to expiry date but affordable for finance.
On the other hand, the origin of food also affects the decision of purchasing food. While some farms use high-quality methods, there are still some that utilize ways that have a negative impact on both people and the environment. For instance, they may use pesticides to kill insects and chemicals for faster growth. If consumers eat those vegetables for a long time, it may cause food poison, soil and water pollution.
Another factor affecting people’s decisions is the food taste. There are various cuisines with different tastes. It is obvious that the flavour of food makes people think carefully about their choice. They may choose their favourite meal rather than a cheap one. For example, Korean individuals prefer spicy food to salty or sweet food.
In short, instead of price, there are some factors that determine people’s choice of buying food, namely the quality of food and preferred taste.
