These days people have switched to driverless cars controlled by artificial intelligence. This is the prime result of innovation of technology. In my opinion, it does more harm than good to society.
The fact that artificial intelligence is used to power and drive cars means that humas are no longer needed. The same task which used to be performed by humans has now been dominated by coding soft wares.This means that less job opportunities for people with driving skills. More people who would otherwise be employed are now without a livelihood and are struggling to make ends meet. The local newspaper recently reported a rising rate of unemployment after the introduction of these cars. Joe from my neighbourhood just lost his job after his employer bought this car.
This new product of the scientific world is a serious social hazard. Since there is no driver, there is nobody left to fine if someone runs a red light or hits a pedestrian. This has also sprouted the debate of legal accountability. Consequently, the crime rate has surged alarmingly. A research study published in The Nature in 2023 highlighted the findings of an international survey which reported that cars run by artificial intelligence are inferior to human drivers as the latter are more socially aware and have more fear of getting caught in case of a wrongdoing.
All in all, the use of artificial intelligence in automobiles is a proof of the scientific advancement but it is negatively affecting the general population.
