The rapid advancements in technology are contributing to every aspect of human life, including the beauty standards, leading to the increased number of people spending plenty of money on cosmetology. While it may have some positive aspects, such as reduced mental stress as a result of better external appearance, I strongly believe that it is mostly a negative tendency, as it leads to diminished self-esteem and poses physical health problems.
To begin with, paying to have a better look can be considered as a beneficial trend as it positively contributes to the skincare routines of people. Contents that idealize healthy skin in social media may resonate with society. To exemplify, people are more likely to buy a product which was advertised by their favourite blogger. This change in regular schedule might give a chance to reduce both physical and mental issues. Nevertheless, this method has the potential to affect only a minuscule portion of society.
In contrast, this fashion may pose more threats for individuals than benefits. Ramping up the encouragement for changes in appearance steer people to set up higher beauty standards. The establishment of definite standards may lead to people sacrificing their health and natural hallmarks. For example, in the last decade, dozens of individuals started to fill their faces with fillers in order to measure up for the social benchmarks. Consequently, it would lead to detrimental impact on health in the future. Furthermore, encouraging facial modifications dwarfs the significance of education. When people see others building successful career by only possessing attractive external traits, they may infer that studying is not as important as many assert. Therefore, major students give up on studying, putting their future at risk.
To sum up, while spending money so as to look better may have an advantage of improving skin treatment, it may lead to people jeopardizing their mental and physical health trying to meet their social preferences. I strongly believe that we should promote the value of uniqueness in every person in order to minimize the number of cosmetological surgeries, and therefore reducing the health issues.
