In this day and age, the majority of individuals want to complete everything instantly without having to wait. In my opinion, this phenomenon is largely a harmful development as it can make people lose patience, and neglect long-term goals.
On the one hand, it is undeniable that expecting things to be done quickly can weaken people’s patience and self-control. In the past, people often had to wait for services, search carefully for information, or spend time reviewing products carefully before making any purchases. However, with the advancement of technology, things can be completed within seconds. As a result, people may become frustrated when they face delays in life. This can lead to impulsive behavior, which can affect their study or work. For example, individuals who are used to online shopping may buy unnecessary products, because they desire for immediate gratification, rather than making careful decisions.
On the other hand, another point to consider is that people who prefer finishing tasks and completing missions quickly always prioritize short-term outcomes, while the most important and meaningful achievements in life are long-term goals, such as gaining a qualification or building a successful career path, which often requires a considerable amount of time, discipline, and consistent effort. If people become too used to instant results, they may struggle to stay committed to long-term goals that do not yield immediate rewards. This is harmful to students as they only prefer quick summaries or short videos instead of allocating time to reading deeply and researching for information properly. As a result, this can lead to superficial learning, which can affect their academic performance at school or even their future careers.
In conclusion, an increasing number of people long for things instantly such as receiving services, obtaining information, or purchasing goods without having to wait as these things can make their lives more convenient. I strongly believe that this trend is a negative development because it can reduce people’s patience, encourage impulsive behavior, and make them less prepared for long-term obstacles that require discipline and perseverance.
