To improve their global status, several nations are striving to foster their economy, which they believe enhances people’s living standards; nevertheless, this phenomenon could lead to countless severe social issues. From my perspective, whereas the upsides brought about by economic growth could not be denied, it may pose a threat to other community values.
On the one hand, there are several benefits of economic growth. The first evidence is that citizens are able to raise their average income. Thanks to the property expansion, individuals could not only gain more chances to make ends meet but also pursue their passions. For instance, they are likely to afford basic needs, rent expenses and are encouraged to take up hobbies. An additional upside is that prosperity offers numerous opportunities for the healthcare system. This is evidenced by the fact that seniors have greater access to investment in multiple treatment facilities and medicine, consequently attracting a large number of professionals.
On the contrary, it is undeniable that emphasizing on financial expansion results in tremendous drawbacks. One noticeable downside is that as the economy extends, the wealth disparity becomes more apparent. With the rapid changes in this technological era, it seems to be harder to control corruption, therefore some wealthy persons can easily take advantage of this situation to be affluent. Moreover, poverty has difficulty in approaching the alteration. Another counter-effect is environmental disaster which is one of the most terrifying concerns in this day and age. In other words, due to the overwhelming waste from industry and human beings, and deforestation, pollution gradually turns serious. As a result, both human health and the ecosystem are endangered.
In conclusion, while it is undeniable that economic development brings some merits for quality of life in many aspects, I would contend that numerous negative troubles tend to come with this phenomenon.
