This is happening because these places have become quite expensive and to try and solve this problem they should try to incentivize local visitors by offering discounted prices or by designing free entrance days.

As the general income of people has not increased, citizens have less money to spend on leisure time, which leads to less tickets being bought to access museums and landmarks. This is a significant increase which probably deterred many people to visit a museum.
Museums should adopt measures to try to incentivize people to visit them. As the price is one of the factors that deter people from accessing such places, one option could be to offer discounted tickets to locals. Another idea could be to designate some time during the year in which the entrance to museums and historical sites is free. For example, in Italy, one Sunday per month, the entrance to museums is free for everyone. Cultural places experience the highest number of local visitors during these Sundays.
