These days many individuals opt to work for themselves rather than be employed in a company or organizations. In my opinion, the positives of being self-employed outweigh the negatives.
There are some disadvantages to this issue. First of all, self-employed people have more responsibilities on their shoulders. They need to provide all demands for their business single-handedly and they have to manage to accomplish their tasks. Although they might have some staff in their business, it is the manager’s duty to get through all the chores. For example, owners of either small shops or shopping malls, in spite have earning a large amount of money, can not make enough quality time with their families, due to punishing schedule that they have. Secondly, they don’t have a stable salary and can not plan for their future economic issues. Self-employed individuals might invest on something based on an estimated budget but due to quiet periods or inflation, they have to give up and will not meet their goals and there is a danger of bankruptcy.
On the other hand, there are a number of positives too. One of the advantages is that they don’t have to work based on a set schedule. Clerks need to work for a set working hours of a company, usually 5 to 9 and also they have limited off days; however, self-employed can start their work at anytime and can stop working to have leisure at anytime. Moreover, they don’t need to obey some strict rules of a company or organization. For example, in Iran, employees should wear some especial uniforms and have complete hijab in offices. However, optional working hours in these tight economic situations may trigger people to become lazy or irresponsible. Besides that even compulsory uniforms can bring integrity and unity to the organization.
In conclusion, even though being self-employed might bring along voluntary working hours and free rules, it can lead to more responsibilities and the risk of bankruptcy.
