On the one hand, proponents of deepening into our previous generation place an emphasis on the following rationales. To begin with, were today generations show a negligence to studying historical events, the achievements of their ancestry would gradually fall into oblivion. Younger people are living in a world of harmony and peace thanks to our generations’ sacrifices, therefore, they are obliged to cultivate essential information about our forefathers’ milestones as a way to commemorate their heroic actions. Additionally, in a world of diverse cultures and ethnicities, young individuals are sometimes uncertain of their identity. Consequently, by preserving family traditions and quality traits, they can foster a sense of belonging towards their ancestors as well as passing admirable qualities such as bravery and the unwavering determination on offspring.
On the other hand, I wholeheartedly support the view that a significant focus on the presence and future development will result in both personal life and career fulfillment. First and foremost, a continuous investigation into the past may unveil possible family tragedies and unpredictable events, potentially leading to disappointment and mixed emotions that shift people’s attention from enjoying their current life. Conversely, the time and resources are better be spent on exploring one’s potential that contribute greatly to their academic and career paths. For example, in the leisure time, people can enrich their knowledge in various fields and equip a versatile skill set to advance in their careers and secure higher salaries. Secondly, focusing on future generations makes us realize that there existing global problems needed to be tackled for the Earth’s inhabitants to sustain lives. To further explain, humanity is suffering from the catastrophic repurcussions of the environmental degradation and other issues, like increased crime rates and social inequality, all of which need to be addressed immediately to ensure future generations have access to a sustainable planet.
In conclusion, while having historical studies about our predecessors learned is of magnitude to today’s citizens to nurture family bonds that last for generations, I believe that it might have adverse effects. Distributing more attention towards the presence and future will enhance the quality of life and bring about merits for the current and future generations.
