Some people think that the internet enable them to learn as much about culture and life as travel does. Although this is true, I believe that firsthand experiences by travelling are vital for gaining a comprehensive understanding of diverse cultures.

On the one hand, it is possible to learn a lot about cultures and customs via a computer screen. There are numerous videos dedicated to culture and customs on YouTube, even apps and blogs that allow people to discuss and share their experiences of life in alternative countries. This idea is only true to a certain extent; some might think that it is non-essential to travel to learn about cultures since they have combined their research, which is filtered unnecessary information out, with their friend’s experiences to make a right decision whether to visit a country or not. However, there are dozens of videos, information on the internet without carefully censoring, a number of them can be blew up out of all proportion or edited to rise a number of interactions. Those who are easily influenced by attractive contents or adverts, thus adversely having misconceptions about this nation.

On the other hand, travelling to other places enables individuals to form personal connections with people from various cultures. Firstly, interacting with locals provides a deeper insight into beliefs, traditions and daily lives that cannot be replicated through other means. By taking part in festivals, trying traditional foods or visiting cultural heritages, travelers can enrich their knowledge and have an authentic understanding about of the culture. Furthermore, travelling can help the locals increase their income. For instances, visiting one of Seven World Wonders, Angkor Wat, can explore the enormous impressions of its architecture and how this wonder reflect the spiritual life of Cambodians, thus reality is much more fascinating rather than virtuality.

In conclusion, while it is undeniable that the internet can provide people knowledge of another country, I strongly believe that first — hand experience can help people expand their horizons.
