Some prefer to have their first child when they get older. These days, it is very common for several reasons related to the financial state, economics of the country and employment. From my personal perspective, the advantages of having a first child at elderly ages are far stronger than the disadvantages.
On the one hand, the experiences of people having a first child at an older age may result in ending up with an only child without giving birth to siblings for them which consequently ends with the fall of countries’ economies. One of the reasons for choosing to have a baby at an older age is job. For instance, the economy of Japan is falling dramatically due to the short duration of maternal leave. To be clear,in this country, very short maternity leave time and if people want a longer duration to care for an infant, there is a high likelihood of losing a job as high competition is quite common for one vacant place. As a result, people want to stabilize their finances before having a child. Therefore, civilizations like Japan struggle with low births.
On the other hand, having a child at a wiser age can have merit. People may become aware of all responsibilities and duties they will have in front of their children. Recently made research over the first children’s life who have younger parents and older parents has shown that participants who have older parents are provided with all necessity, while others may lack these chances. Having older parents than younger ones influences children’s life a lot.
In conclusion, the advantages of having a first child outweigh the disadvantages. Both children and parents can benefit from this decision, although it may have negative aspects for countries’ economies.
