In this materialistic world the most value is given to money. Money; a piece of paper which is supposed to fulfill all the needs of humans. Money is linked to happiness one way or another. The more money one has the happier they are supposed to be. But is this always relevant? Having an extensive amount of money can make one feel like they have fulfilled their goal but it doesn’t always link to having more happiness. Happiness in your life depends on the quality of thoughts you have, it is a spiritual experience of living every moment with love, grace and gratitude.
It is evident that people run after the same rat race that has been going around for ages and that is to earn enough money. But nothing is actually enough. The more one has the lesser it feels for them. That is simply human nature. In this race of earning more money humans forget to live in the small moments and they ignore what actually makes them happy; their loved ones and spending time with them. People tend to spend their whole lives chasing after money and later in life they regret not spending their lives to the fullest. “We learn the value of something only after its lost” and people tend to value time when they are on their deathbed waiting for life to end and reminiscing about the life they lived. If money could buy happiness then no rich people would be facing health risks and mental diseases and even loneliness. The Usa , UAE, and the UK are considered few of the richest countries in the world but they aren’t considered the happiest countries. If money and happiness were parallel then the richest countries would be the happiest as well. But according to the recent data from World Happiness Report of 2025, Finland is considered as the happiest country and Nepal is considered as the happiest country in south asia. Happiness isn’t measured by the amount of money a country has but by how much freedom of opinion their people have, if their needs are properly fulfilled or not.
With the increasing inflammation it is hard to sustain life without money. Critics do argue that without money it would be tough to fulfill even our basic needs.in the present world everything is sold to money. The house we live in, the food we eat and even the clothes we wear requires money. Critics may argue that The richest person in the world at the moment is Elon musk who has a net worth of billions and can buy anything he wants and even he is living a life full of happiness and people he loves. But along with money there does come a negative aspect. He might seem like a happy person but his privacy is and his personal life is invaded by other people as well. It is the same with other celebrities who face the same issue of their privacy being hindered by pedestrians and fans as well.
To sum it all up, even though money is one of the most important aspects to having a prosperous life; having more than enough will ruin it instead. As mentioned before, the more money one has they will chase after making more money rather than enjoying their life and spending it the way they want. Well happiness is indeed not a goal to be achieved but a byproduct of how well you live your life. If spent well with the right people it eventually finds a way to you but chasing after money is definitely not a way of earning joy in life. To live a life full of gratitude and grace the stress of earning money should be left behind but alongside having money just enough for fulfilling one’s basic need is what makes one actually satisfied and less greedy. Thus to cherish life to its fullest, live every moment with a smile on your face, not stress in your mind.
