Research demonstrates that the characteristics we are born with are much more effective in our personality and improvement than any experiences we may have in our lifetime. I believe that our characteristics have real impacts on our personality and decisions. However, I strongly disagree with the idea that these features have more influence than our experiences.
Firstly, a character is something that might change over a lifetime. In my opinion, a person is not born with certain characteristics, you can earn characters depending on your lifestyle. In other words, character is something you learn, not born with. Besides, this learning process is strongly related to that person’s experiences. To sum up, character and experience are related to each other and character can be shaped according to experience.
Furthermore, after all, a human is a being that learns through experiences. There may be some dominant character in a person that can be completely destroyed by a life-changing experience. For instance, a judgemental person may reduce this character after an experience in which she observes her own attitude and negative consequences from the outside.
To conclude, character absolutely has effects on a person’s development and identity still, it has no more reflection than experiences, which are always a major influence in our life.
