Band 5+: Scientific research often requires significant government funding. Some people argue that this money should instead be used to solve social problems. Agree or disagree?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Scientific research tends to need significant government funding support. A wide range of people consider that this budget should instead be used to solve urgent social problems. From my perspective, I totally agree. The main reason is that we must solve urgent social first, it is much more vital than researching. Due to the fact that if our problems still have, it will be bad, such as the increasing elderly population. Even if science requires money to spend, we must pay attention on most population and main issues. This essay will explain the reasons why I totally agree with this.

To begin with, the government should spend money on population first. This can be attributed to the fact that we must focus on urgent social, the nagative consequences would outweigh the benefits; scientists do not face issues as urgent as the main problems affecting the typical public. To illustrate, nowadays, the number of elderly people is increasing significantly every year; the government must support older people who do not have their own accommodation or do not have a caretaker, such as their sons. Therefore, if we spend too much money on science, it will not be advantageous for other sectors.

In addition, if government pays attention to scientific research too much, they will have more opportunities and new research, it would be good for them. However, it will good one side. Therefore, we also should advocate and help urgent problems, not only spending on science.

In conclusion, I agree that the government should solve urgent social problems instead of spending too much money on scietific too much.
