Nowadays, the internet is used by many people to get information about historical sites and culture. It is claimed by some people that museums are no longer needed as all the information is easily available on the internet. However, I firmly disagree with this idea.
To begin with, no one can deny the fact that people cannot physically see the historical sites on the internet. It provides only photos, which most of the time are not enough to understand the actual size and beauty of the artifacts or sculptures. For instance, in order to gauge the size of the world’s biggest sword made in the 19th century, we have to see it in person. Since photos on the screen can never give an accurate idea of the size. Furthermore, all the information available on the internet may not be true, as some websites post fake information for their own benefits. Conversely, museums provide details curated by the government and historical experts. Therefore, this will help in the actual understanding of historical events.
In addition, museums bolster the economic development of the city. To explain it in detail, the fees collected from the visitors of the museums improve the revenue of the government. And also, it acts as an entertainment place for many people. For instance, the Taj Mahal in Agra is one of the seven wonders of the world, which attracts millions of tourists every year. It increases the popularity of the country as well as provides information about the history and culture of the country.
In conclusion, I strongly disagree with the idea that museums are not needed anymore. In my opinion, the internet will never be able to physically show things. Museums provide a true representation of history, culture, and religion, which would not be possible with the internet.
