Nowadays, children spend a lot of time on their smartphones, which is increasing significantly according to the attention on social media and its effectiveness on their lifestyle. There are several reasons why this trend is gaining momentum, and opinions are divided on whether this development is positive or negative.
On the one hand, using smartphones and social media platforms can increase the accessibility to information needed. If they can use it positively without taking their time unnecessarily, it can be beneficial to have access to the information and get a good education wherever they are. For instance, the usage of smartphones for engaging in various educational activities such as virtual classrooms or research, may have a positive impact on them. Moreover, the usage of social media like Instagram can give inspiration and useful information for recipes, traveling, gyming, etc.
On the other hand, using social media excessively might not be healthy either mentally or physically. If they see an unreal life from their friends, they can feel their life is not the best and can be affected that negatively. Even more, if they spend hours every day on social media, their percentages of physical activities may decrease and it can lead to unhealthy conditions even obesity.
In my opinion, if the usage turns to a limited time, it can be beneficial. However, if it turns to spending time excessively, it can be harmful either mentally or physically. In sum, the most important thing is to create a balance.
