Positive And Negative

Band 7+: Some children spend hours everyday on smartphones. Why is this the case? Do you think this is a positive or negative development?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, kids use mobile phones a lot, which has both negative and positive impacts. This essay is all about the discussion of these arguments before reaching a final conclusion.

On the one hand, frequent use of smartphones makes a kid intelligent and sharp. It has many advantages in this regard because different online activities and educational apps are present on phones, which help children to acquire knowledge. They learn a lot of things by using them. A mobile phone is a very productive instrument because it gives a lot of information about the world. For example, if any child spends time watching informational videos and listening to news, it would be beneficial for students of early ages. They can get more knowledge through this device.

On the other hand, it has a very dark side as well because massive use of it can cause physical and mental illness. Overuse of phones and indulgence in social media could make life difficult. Furthermore, it leads to mental breakdown if anyone uses it in the wrong way. If children spend more time on them, as a result, they start to rely on them, which can increase anxiety and depression.

In conclusion, although smartphone usage among children increases educational benefits, it also has various drawbacks. It affects our physical and mental health badly. Therefore, I believe that limiting children’s mobile phone activities is better for their future.
