A highly controversial issue today relates to electronic gadgets. Nowadays, a majority of youngsters spend more time daily on their mobiles to play games and watching movies. Some people believe it is a positive development; in my opinion, it is a negative one. In this essay, I will support my viewpoint with examples.
To begin with, prolonged use of smartphones has an impact on physical health. For example, overuse of mobile phones can lead to health issues, such as eye strain, headache, poor posture, and a sedentary lifestyle, which contributes to obesity and related health problems. Long periods of mobile phone usage disrupt the sleep cycle; blue light appeared to diminish the production of melatonin pigment that helped them in sleep. Therefore, children should reduce their hours on smartphones.
Secondly, a large number of people believe that extended duration on computers can contribute to poor mental health, social skills, and relationships. To illustrate this, it can lead to depression, anxiety, and loneliness. Moreover, it can diminish opportunities for youngsters to engage in social activities, such as playing with peers and participating in sports that can contribute to social isolation interactions.
Conversely, some individuals think that the use of smartphones daily for educational content is beneficial for adolescents. For instance, apps, e-books, and online research. Additionally, interactive learning tools such as games, and videos can engage children in subjects like maths, science, and language making learning more enjoyable and effective.
To sum up, teenagers have decreased time on their mobile phones because it is harmful to physical health, mental illness, and social isolation. However, some people believe that it has a positive impact on academic purposes. I believe that it has more negative effects than positive.
