Band 5+: Some countries invest in specialized sports facilities for top athletes but not for the average people. Is this a positive or negative development?

It is common to see that many governments invest a big amount of money for modern sport facilities to support their professional sportsmen , however , these governments do not support ordinary individuals with these equipments at all. In my opinion, this is unfair as ordinary individuals should, also, have an opportunity to make a use of these highly qualified equipments for some reasons .

First of all, by giving ordinary people a chance to use these highly moderned facilities , governments could increase their citizens` physical levels . If governments focus only on professional sportsmen , ordinary individuals may feel unimportant to society and be less active than they supposed to be. It is estimated that as a result of not being able to use modern equipments , individuals are likely to be less active as well as may face obesity in their later lives. If governments focus only on top sportsmen ,this unfairty may have a negative impact on average individuals as they could make a use of them to keep themselves active .

Secondly, goverments could pick up talented amateur athletes by observing them when they use professional equipments and , eventually , turn them into professional ones as a result of guided training sessions . This is because , many sportsmen with top performances became famous and got under eyes of their coaches from using these modern facilities in order to show their abilities. As a result of not using being able to use these equipments , many ordinary individuals with talents could go unnoticed and loose their opportunities to be professionals . If they had an opportunity to illustrate their abilities by using these extra equipments , they could become famous and show their talents . However , if governments will not give them a chance to illustrate their abilities in terms of sports , they can never show their true talent and go unnoticed even they have a talent .

In conclusion , focusing only on professional spsrtsmen`s performances and letting only them to make a use of highly developed equipments have numerous negative effects on other unprofessional individuals . Firstly , goverments could not increase their citizens` activenes , and secondly , individuals will not have a chance to show their true sport abilities .
