Nowadays, it’s becoming more common to fund for sport opportunities for specialized sportsmen rather than for the ordinary people in some countries. Although everyone should receive equal attention on matters of fitness and sport, my opinion is this opportunity should be given only for specialized ones as they contribute to society with achievements.
To start with, equal access to specialized sports can bring health benefits in the public. This is because, the more people are dedicated to sport, the healthier they become, which increases the rate of life expectancy in a country. As a result, the government could take a disadvantage of it by growing the number of population and workers, which leads to deterioration in the economic rate of the country, such as providing them with housing and employment.
I, however, of the opinion that sport facilities should be continued being for only specialized athletes, as they can contribute to the country’s level in the world by winning and standing for its country’s image in competitions. Besides, they can bring an enormous amount of money to their government. If these opportunities are also shared with individuals for aimless use, the specialized athletes will not be enough time for training and they can be disrupted by others who are not related to sport. Of course, the government can easily waste their resources in favor of doing better to the public.
In conclusion, in fact several countries prefer investment for their top sportsmen over that for inhabitants. For instance, I think that it’s good for the government as athletes stand for the reputation of the country and help them to avoid unnecessary spending.
