Some people argue that all cities must introduce a car-free day for reducing pollution and to encourage other transport, while other contend that this strategy is not practical, rather improving public transport infrastructure have potential benefits. I completely agree with the latter point of view as it is beneficial for people and the environment.
On the one side, public transport is advantageous for people of all classes; as it offers a cost effective and comfortable transport. It provides an economical travel to people and profitable for the serive-providers, if managed well. For instance, a few days ago, I have to go to university for some personal work, I checked fair on Indrive, which was four times higher than what the public transport was charging, so I preferred to go on metro, which is much more secure and safer than the taxi. Therefore, I believe improving public transport infrastructure can have far more advantages than that of providing a car-free day.
Furthermore, public transport has positive impacts on environment and in daily lives of people as well. It is not only eco-friendly but also reduces traffic on roads, which has help people live a better life in the natural environment. As mass transit decreases the number of private cars on roads and indirectly reduces the traffic congestion as well. Hence, investing more in public transport can have more advantages for every individual than that of having a no car day in a week.
As per my personal experience, improvement in public transport have economical and environmental benefits for individuals. Therefore, having a better transport system can reduce pollution and make people free from higher cost of transportation.
In conclusion, the latter viewpoint is more profitable and advantageous for all the residents and the ecosystem.
