Band 5+: Some people advocate death penalty for those who committed violent crimes. Others say that capital punishment is unacceptable in contemporary society. Describe advantages and disadvantages of death penalty and give your opinion.

Nowadays, majority of the people believe that death penalty should be given to those who do serious crime whereas other think that punishing money is not suitable for the contemporary world. In my opinion, I personally believe that there are two sides of punishing death for the criminal and this essay will discuss pros and cons of death penalty and my final thought.

On the one hand, death penalty will lower the rate of the crime in society and it can be consider as positive aspects. To explain it, when government make the law to give the death punishment for the crime instead of punishing the large sums of the money, more people will be afraid of doing huge crime in the community which will definitely assist to reduced the crime rate in any nations. For example, the research done by US government found out that there was dramatic decrease in crime in USA when death penalty was implemented .

On the other hand, some of the non criminal may get punished which is drawbacks. Furthermore, as we know not only criminal are punished but sometime non- criminal people are also punished due to lack of evidence and misunderstanding during the case. Due to this, death penalty for all criminal is not fair justices, instead of this we should give punishment according to the nature of the crime and types of the person whether he or she is really criminal or not. Otherwise, it will bring psychological fear and frustration among the individuals. For instance, The KTM Post recently reported that in Dubai 6 non criminal people were given death penalty in 2021 December 5th.But, few month later they were not guilty in crime which was not a fair justices for the people.

To sum up, majority of the people argue that death penalty is far better as compared to punishing money for their crime where there are both advantage as well as disadvantage for instance reducing the rate of crime is positive aspects whereas increasing the public fear among normal people is drawbacks. In my personal view, it is not suitable to imposing death penalty unnecessarily and neglecting capital punishment is not fair. But, punishment should be given according to the nature of the crime and types of the people.
