Some individuals believe that whenever someone chooses life partners or friends, it is important to have an influence from their parents, others think that decision should be self-sufficient. In this essay, I would evaluate both schools of thought before proposing my own perspective on this matter.
On the one hand, there are some reasons why parents should influence the choice of spouse or friends of their children. The first is parents, who have been through and have a lot of experience to guide their children. The fact is that decisions about this matter are challenging and sensitive, and we need advice from predecessors. Because parents want us to be able to choose suitable partners and best friends for life, they are ready to share their vast knowledge about relationships so that we do not get in trouble or problematic results. In addition, they are the closest to their child, which means they already have a certain impact on how their children see and deal with people in the beginning. And children tend to live in a more understanding and supportive family environment could choose the right person for themselves.
On the other hand, opponents of the previous view believe that children should be highly independent in making decisions about their partners or friends. When people become adults, they have to break free from the protective care of their parents to be independent. Parents are not always right, which may cause resentment and a loss of inability to evaluate their children’s important decisions in some cases. Children are free to pursue their love or choose friends. Another fact is that parents do not spend time with their children’s friends or spouses, so choosing lifelong companions should be based on children’s experiences and emotions. Allowing young people to develop individual thinking, and a deeper understanding of their preferences so can be ready to start a relationship. For example, we can not force them to an arranged date or marry someone just because we find is compatible.
In conclusion, although there are mixed opinions about whether the parent should use their insight to help their children choose life partners or friends or not. Because of the deeply personal nature of this matter, and each person must take responsibility for their life, I think that this decision should be made independently.
