Band 7+: Some people argue that technology has made our lives more complicated, while others believe that it has made our lives easier. Discuss both views and give your own opinion

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

The incidence of technology has been a pivotal point in the history of humanity, and it is my belief that it is imperative to making our lives easier. However, others may argue that the introduction of technology has actually had an overall negative impact on our lives, and this essay aims to evaluate both sides.

To begin with, technology has had multi-faceted effects on many parts of our lives. Nowadays, not only our lives but also most of our workplaces, education, and other features of our live depend greatly on our use of the Internet, mobile phones, and other methods, all of which are provided to us by the grace of technology. Also, social media and other forms of communication has helped us in making the world smaller and bringing us closer to each other, while also serving as an unparalleled source of entertainment. Ranging from the simple things in life such as using a toaster and coffee machine, all the way to industries, technologies have definitely had a part in making our lives more simple.

However, technology has also had it’s hand in making our lives more stressful. The constant attention that our smartphones demand has caused us to suffer from information overload, leading to more hectic lives, centered around responding to emails, catching up to news and staying updated on all topics. This has ultimately made us more anxious and jittery in life. Furthermore, the pressure of staying perpetually connected on social media is a source of stress, and jobs may also pressure us to work outside of working hours due to being connected.

Overall, technology has brought the world closer, and connected us to each other in many ways, alongside having many small effects which change the way we live our lives. But, ofttimes it can serve as a source of distraction and constant pressure, which is why people think that it’s effect is negative. I personally have the opinion that the advantages of having technology in our lives outweigh the disadvatanges.
