Some people feel that students should be taught for financial skills in school. I strongly agree children should receive financial lessons because they are crucial for adult life.
The primary reason for educating students in money management skills is to prevent them from falling into debt in the future. In particular, children can manage their incomes and expanses correctly, if they face financial issues or investments in the future. For example, my sister had a ten-years old son, who liked to save money from daily expences to buy new toys, and his school educates financial skills. Five years later, one of his friends begged him to give some money to repay his debts, nonetheless he rejected because he had to manage his personal finances properly to avoid such a situation. Thanks to taking financial education, he has never been in debt and find a way to invest some portion of his income. Hence, educating children to money management is valuable to prevent students from falling into debt.
An additional reason for my stance is that it helps children to develop their critical thinking and future planning. Granted, children may not feel the significance of this, but in fact, it brings long-term benefits to their lives. Managing personal finances needs a quite developed critical thinking skill to spend only in basic needs and save where it is not affective. For instance, children who were taught to this skills can achieve financial stability and independence in the future. Accordingly, equipping students with such knowledge could enhance their decision making and planning skills.
In conclusion, students should be taught in money management and other financial skills, as it brings long-term positive effect on their lives.
