People hold different views about traffic congestion. While some say that the most efficient way to reduce traffic jams is to improve public transport, others say that expanding road infrastructure is more effective. Personally, I strongly agree with the former because the opinion of the latter side is not appropriate for all countries.
To begin with, the initiative of improving public transport might be good, as citizens will prefer public transport to private transport. In more detail, there will be less need for private transport if policymakers increase the production of buses and trains. Consequently, the number of cars on the roads will decrease and the majority of people will be commuting to their destinations by city transport.
Turning to the other side of the argument, the improvement of road infrastructure is actually a good idea, yet it has some downsides. In fact, if road system was improved, the number of city dwellers would be high because of the need for private transport. In some countries, for instance, the road system is developed, but there are a lot of traffic congestions because of large population. This means that even though improving the road network in some countries might be beneficial to reduce the traffic jams, it is not suitable worldwide.
To conclude, even though some people can think that improvement of road system can reduce traffic congestion, I believe that the state should enhance the manufacturing of trains and buses to decrease the need of cars because it is more efficient.
