A minority of people believe that schools have to pay attention only on academic subjects, while others argue that students should also be taught practical life skills like cooking and financial management. I am on the opinion that schools should teach only academic subjects for future career. This essay will discuss both point of views.
There are number of reasons why people may think teaching essential life skills at schools is crucial. Firstly, students who learn that abilities at schools can promote independence. This is because, without life knowledge students might struggle make ends meet like find difficult to manage their financial(budget) and time. If they learn how to handle these kind tough situations, they will become more prepared for real life and prevent unhealthy eating, poor financial decisions. Secondly, some children do not have parents who can teach them and prepare for big future this gives equal rights, if teachers taught these practical skills. Because, most students especially orphans need more balanced life lessons in order to be successful than others. Therefore, having practical life lessons at schools also useful.
However, it’s also clear that core subjects like math, science and languages are essential for future careers of students. As, to find particular lucrative jobs nowadays requires knowledge that is why school subject is needed. Apart from that, students preparing for exams like university entrance tests need strong academic foundations. Limited school time is another reason why practical life skills is unnecessary. Adding extra skills to the school curricula may led to overwhelming and could reduce focus on academic performance. In addition to that, some practical skills differ by household; families might prefer to teach them their own way. That skills can be taught at home, schools do not responsible for that.
In conclusion, although adding some everyday life skills is important from others perspective, I think focusing only on academic subject which is helpful university entering is more beneficial.
