Study and sport are undoubtedly two of the most important aspects of human life, and they don’t exclude each other. A perfect school timetable should mix hours of sport with academic subjects like maths, history, geography and many others.
On one hand sport can allow children to free their minds and release tension. I remember that when I was child my favourite subject was physical education and I loved going outside to play in the yard. Those activities helped me to take a break in order to be more focused when we had to come back in the classroom and start studying again.
On the other hand academic subjects have an important role: they are necessary to improve children’s knowledge and make them rational and thinking humans. Even if humanistic or scientific subjects could seem boring and not interesting, studying them for a long time helps people to be more intelligent and cultured but it also gives them several opportunities to get a good job in the future. If I had known it earlier, I would have studied more. I was a restless girl, always in movement, and it was hard for my teachers to bring me back in the classroom after 30 minutes of running everywhere. But I was also very curious and I found maths, science and history very interesting, I liked to study them rather than geography and philosophy. Nowadays I would have liked to suggest to the younger version of me not to give up on something just because you don’t like, but learn more about it, that’s because it could be useful in the future.
In conclusion, I think that join relaxing activities with serious ones could be the best solution. In this way teachers could alternate moments of high concentration and fun without stressing children.
