Some individuals assert that young adults know more about international pop and film stars than important historical figures. In this essay, I will submit that not enough media coverage of them is the reason behind this phenomenon and retelling their stories in a way that is more coping with our digital era is one of the solutions.
Primarily, propaganda and journalists usually cover stories and people who they think will attract the most audience, prompting more profits for them and their companies. Consequently, a lot of pioneering historical figures have been neglected due to this notion. For instance, Mohamed Salah, a famous Egyptian footballer, has more media coverage and attention than Thomas Edison, who basically invented a light lamp. Another reason for this is that young people would rather spend their free time gossiping about popular stars’ personal lives than bore themselves trying to know more about historical inventions.
Moreover, for this generation to beat this phenomenon, we have to be more oriented to the digital and technological advancements to use them as a method to entice them to be more knowledgeable about a certain person. For example, if a pmovie was made about Newton, who invented gravity, by To Cruise, who has a lot of fans all over the world, not only will tons of people watch it, but also they will be curious to learn more about the life story of Newton. Additionally, schools and higher educational institutions need to make their students and others aware of the affluent expriences these figures had and how getting to study them will enrich their lives.
In conclusion, as I stated above, with the technological revolutionization, people are now more interested in what their phones show about famous actors than what historical inventors have done for the Earth, due to lack of interest. Creative ideas should be applied to allure this generation into being more curious about them.”
