Nowadays, it is argued whether governments should pass laws related to recycling or not. This essay will completely disagree with this option in light of the fact that it could be irrelevant and damaging, since the highest amount of pollution is caused by industries and citizens would be financially ruined for situations they have not aggravated.
To commence with, the level of wasted material is not produced by single households, since the number of goods consumed and then recycled could not be compared to the one created by the industrial system, which is the main culprit for this high data. Moreover, if the entire population of a certain region recycled their waste, that would not be sufficient in order to promote a radical change in the said field. Evidence for this appears in the dreadful percentage of factories which discharge its remaining material from production at sea, causing a disruption of the environment.
In these instances, opting for a legal requirement regarding recycle might force individuals to create significantly expensive habits, such as buying non plastic reusable kitchen objects, or only recyclable bathroom products, especially those related to feminine hygene, such as tampons or razors. An excellent example of this can be observed in Italy, where the price of these said tools has dramatically increased from when the material of which they were composed has become eco-friendly.
In conclusion, even though being aware of the environmental crisis has become fundamental for everyone, recycle should not be mandatory. In fact, the amount of garbage present at home for each person is not relevant, if compared to the total and, what is more, recycling is not a cheap option.
