Education is a building block of society these days. It is considered by some that being a university graduate is key to success and securing a good job, while there are others who think that it is better to have experience and soft skills. Although university diploma is required and beneficial for future career, in my opinion, soft skills and experience are essential in business.
On the one hand, graduating the university is crucial for academic jobs. In other words, having a university diploma is required by many companies, because it can put people one step ahead from their counterparts and this can be the deciding factor in getting a good job. Take for instance doctors, teachers and lawyers, their job is strictly connected with academic achievement and qualification. If they have not got a university diploma, they will not be able to work in the field of politics. Despite the benefits of having a tertiary education for future perspectives, I believe that experience and soft skills are vital.
On the other hand, experience and soft skills such as leadership skills and other interpersonal skills can be a huge advantage for their future work opportunities. That is to say, there are many applicants applying for a job, however, person with experience and soft skills may have a chance to get a better job and incentives for their salary. In addition, there are some professions which do not require a special qualification or diploma. Put simply, people working in the field of farming, housekeeping and trading only need experience and certain skills for their job.
In conclusion, while getting a good job requires a relevant background in either academic achievement and experience, I think that soft skills are crucial for individuals’ future perspectives and monetary rewards. However, people should make sure whether they need necessary skills and degrees or soft skills and experience depending on their type of work and field.
