The arguments regarding whether working in a large enterprise or a small one is better have been taking place for quite a long time. In my opinion, working in both types of company could bring different benefits and I will discuss both views in this essay.
On the one hand, working in a large company may bring better benefits and income for the employees. In this technology-driven era, people are in a big competition to gain a position in big-tech companies such as Google, Amazon, or Facebook. This is because those large companies are not likely to have issues like bankruptcy. However, they may not commit to giving employees a permanent job, as thousands of candidates and talents are waiting to get hired every year. Furthermore, the potential of layoffs and firing is extremely high when these companies lose their profits too rapidly.
On the other hand, although small enterprises provide less employment and income, employees may feel less stressful about their job security while working. Moreover, it is easier to gain promotion in a small business than in a big one. Due to the fewer number of employees in small businesses, the process of promotion is less complicated. Everyone’s performance can be supervised by the employers, so that the potential of promotion is much higher than working in a big company. Additionally, the fact that the competition while working in small businesses is lower, employees may feel more comfortable as they are not likely to be replaced by other competitors.
In conclusion, despite the better satisfaction and income working in a large enterprise may bring, employees may find that it less competitive to work in a small enterprise. As a result, they can spend more time on their personal leisure than those employed in big companies.
