Environmental issues are one of the most debatable topics nowadays. So some people argue that the extinction of plants and animals is a major environmental problem. Meanwhile, others oppose this view and emphasise that other environmental issues are more important. I personally think middle ground on it since all major environmental problems link each other, and one result may be the extinction of plants and animals. I will explain my view in the following paragraphs.
Generally, environment means surrounding us, and it is a network like a spider web. That means one issue may link to and cause other issues. For example, global warming, which has major repercussions on many summits, will lead to melting Arctic glaciers. This will result in rising sea levels, changes in weather patterns, the destruction of animal habitats, and so on. This clearly shows that one environmental issue impacts other issues, and there is no rank between environmental problems.
Loss of plants and animals also creates many damages to the world. Mainly, it will loosen the balance in the environmental circle. For instance, a reduction in Chennai tigers causes an increase in species like deer, rabbits, and so on. Further, the loss of some plants also significantly impacts the environmental circle. For example, a reduction in special kinds of bamboo trees directly contributes to reducing pandas in China. Therefore, the loss of plants and animals is also linked to the environmental network and may have many other implications.
In conclusion, some people argue that the that the most impactful environmental issue is the extinction of plants and animals, whereas others argue that there are more issues than there are. As per my view, all the environmental issues are linked together, and there is no major issue; rather, all problems are equally damaging to the balance of the environment.
