The major environmental problem of the current time is divided into two sides. The first side believes that the main problem is the extinction of particular species of plants and animals. However, the other side believes that there are other significant environmental problems.
The first view is valid, as there are many problems that arise with the extinction of particular species of both plants and animals. The causes of extinction include the destruction of natural habitats, illegal hunting, and other natural causes. The disappearance of these particular plants and animals can lead to various problems, including the loss of major species that can be used for scientific studies and the loss of important medicinal herbs. There can also be disruption in the balance of the ecosystem. For example, the loss of these species can create huge gaps in the ecosystem that eventually lead to other various challenges.
The second view is also justifiable, as there are challenges that are more important. These challenges include problems caused by human activities. The major issues generated by humans are deforestation, pollution, global warming, and forest fires. These problems can have a huge effect on living beings and the earth. They can also lead to climate change, soil erosion, and poor air quality. For example, given the current situation of our country’s capital city, Kathmandu, the climate has changed drastically due to pollution and climate change, resulting in problems even in the citizens’ day-to-day life.
To conclude, I personally believe in the second opinion, as the reasons and effects truly match the current situation of our lives. The extinction of species does not affect today’s world as much as the results of global warming, pollution, etc. Hence, I strongly believe that there are more important environmental problems.
