A number of individuals argue that the criticial issue that we face is the extinction of specific creatures, while others assume that various crucial environmental problems should be prioritized. From my perspective, I totally agree with the second view and this essay will delve into each aspect of the debate.
Advocates for preserving species in danger argue that these types of creatures contribute to environmental biodiversity. The disappearance of these species can result in the imbalance of environmental circulation, as a number of indispensable animals such as elephants will ensure the quantity of some particular animals, therefore maintaining the balance of the environment. For instance, hyenas, a type of carnivorous animal, have their main food source from African zebras, thus controlling the population of this species in a certain amount. Moreover, the disappearance of some specific plants can pose threats to the world, which include climate change and pollution. With the gradual loss of the Amazon forest, a considerable number of floods appear, which the underlying causative factor stems from deforestation.
On the other hand, I firmly believe that a well-rounded approach should be applied to the whole of environmental issues. Those problems, which can be enumerated such as climate change or the excessive population growth, are the main reasons for putting environmental habitats on the verge of vanishing. With the relentless increase of the population, more habitats are destroyed, catering for the demand of human settlement. Furthermore, untreated waste from industrial factories can cause water pollution, which leads to detrimental effects on aquatic creatures, indirectly affecting the health of humans.
In conclusion, while the loss of particular plants and animals should be given greater attention, a thorough approach should be implemented on other critically important environmental problems. I firmly believe that a comprehensive focus on all of those problems is superior to concentrating solely on plants and animals extinction.
