There are varying opinions about the purpose of learning a new language. While some maintain that learning a new language is solely useful in case of travelling abroad or goals associated with one’s career, I believe it provides a handy solution to other barriers as well. In this essay , I intend to discuss both of these views and make a logical conclusion.
Some individuals adhere to the idea that learning a foreign language ,in addition to one’s mother tongue , is beneficial in a limited range of fields. They state that having adequate language skills, especially in speaking and listening , enables an individual to improve their performance in their profession provided that they work abroad,because they would be able to create a better impression the first time they meet their colleagues and associates. Moreover, having a superior command in a particular language enables business-owners to outperform their economic rivals. Additionally,learning a new language would be quite helpful in trips , as people would not run into difficulties communicating with foreigners. Therefore,they enjoy the vacation more!
Although some believe learning a foreign language serves only some particular aims, I believe it could be quite useful and effective for other purposes ,such as education, as well. In modern societies , with the advent of sophisticated technologies and the rise of multi-cultural communities , learning a foreign language improves social life and forms an international alliance. This applies in the academic world as well , where pupils are willing to access higher education in other countries. Statistics have proven that non-native students make up a significant proportion of universities in vastly different geographical zones. So is it fair to look at it from a limited perspective?
While some believe only a few particular problems can be addressed by learning a new language , I consider it worthwhile to turn our thoughts to new languages , as we would derive many additional points in return.
