Minority of people think workers should be abled to select their own their time for work, while the rest think that fixed schedules are more suitable for corporations. While both are correct in their own ways, there’s a lot more than that meets the eye.
The first great thing that comes from having flexibility choosing your own work hour is that you have more freedom. You could argue that people will be able to do what they want. They could tend to and give time their personal and family business before work in which you couldn’t do with locked working hours. Such as an example of attending a once in a year family junction in the morning till afternoon and you could still clock in on your 7 hour shift from the afternoon till night falls. This results in the worker being able to put their family stuff first before work and may constitute to a happier employee and that will also lead to them being able to work harder but this comes at a cost.
What people need to keep in mind is that people are vastly different from each other and their job hours difference would be huge too. You could see potentially see two people in the same team responsible for a huge project working apart from each other where discussing with each other the key details is the strength. Most would agree that the most beneficial thing that comes from fixed hours in a job is that it brings unity to the company and spearheads development with a faster pace.
In conclusion, a person could say that free working hours would bring flexibility and more morale but another could argue that it loses unity in the process and slows down key development. In my opinion I think that job time being locked in is pretty great and get things done at a fast pace whereas free working hours would slow down stuff and you will have much more work to handle in a longer timeframe.
