Many people think that marketing plays a vital role in country’s economy. While some people argue that it negatively affects society as it leads to dissatisfaction with their lives. I agree with the former option.
On the one hand, advertising encourages people to purchase unnecessary things. Even though people already have enough things, they still want to buy more. For instance, in our modern world, many people desire to obtain more belongings and they tend to replace with new items that they are still in good condition. Consequently, a growing number of people are becoming materialistic. Additionally, many people are becoming dissatisfied with their lives. Particularly, people on the internet are negatively influencing young people. They tend to compare themselves with others on social media. Therefore, these factors contribute to anxiety and stress.
On the other hand, advertisements help companies increase sales. One clear advantage is that advertisements support sales through informs consumers about product. For example, today, many start-up businesses can promote their business by advertising on social media, TV, and billboards. As a result, businesses can attract people and boosting demand. In addition, when companies are rising, it allows companies to expand their production. Therefore, they need labor force to increase their productivity. As a consequence, many unemployment people gain access to job opportunities.
In conclusion, while many people hold the view that advertisements may lead to a sense of unhappiness, since they tend to compare themselves with unrealistic standards, I personally believe that marketing brings significant benefits to community.
