There is an ongoing debate over whether dangerous sports should be banned, with some arguing that individuals should be free to engage in any sport they choose, while others believe that such activities ought to be prohibited. Although risky sports help relieve stress, I strongly believe that they should be outlawed because of the long term consequences.
Some people think that engaging in extreme sports can help alleviate stress from a professional pursuit and hectic lifestyle. Many individuals, especially working-class people, allocate a significant amount of their energy and time to their job, which leaves them exhausted and less energetic. If they participate in activities like skydiving, rock climbing, or snowboarding, they can trigger the body’s “fight-or-flight” response, releasing adrenaline and endorphins. Adrenaline increases alertness, while endorphins act as natural mood enhancers, temporarily reducing feelings of stress and helping people feel energized. When people spend long hours at the office, they may feel mentally drained, but as long as they take part in weekend rock climbing sessions, they can break the routine, clear their mind, and experience a sense of achievement. Regular participation in extreme sports not only provides temporary stress relief but also promotes a more active and balanced lifestyle, improving overall health, boosting confidence, and enhancing productivity, unless the activities are performed in an unsafe manner.
However, I believe that taking part in dangerous sports should be banned as they can lead to severe health issues. When people take part in dangerous sports, such as skydiving, rock climbing, and BASE jumping, they may end up with broken bones, back injuries, or even internal injuries. These injuries occur because such sports involve high-risk actions, injuring even professionals with years of experience and training. In the most serious cases, severe injuries from these activities may result in permanent disability, drastically reducing one’s quality of life. While it is true that risky sports can help reduce stress and provide a sense of achievement, it is far more important to consider the serious medical consequences participants may face.
In conclusion, stress can be relieved by regular participation in dangerous sports. However, I am of the opinion that such sporting activities should be restricted, taking into account the serious long-term medical consequences.
