Nowadays, some people are actively engaged in arguments about allocation fundings for preservation endangered languages or, oppositely, more socially significant fields such as healthcare and infrastructure. These two standpoints are diametrically opposite as the first one offers spending money on languages preservation, while the second one is more rational in terms of everyday life and pursue solution for real-life problems. From my personal perspective, the second way has a much more substantial potential due to solving relevant problems.
Starting with viewpoint focused on languages preversation, it is important to claim that this plays a significant role in regulation of social interactions, promotion local traditions and saving national identities. For instance, frequent investments in development of national language in Kazakhstan expressed in financial aid to Kazakh cinema and music creators leads to spreading of Kazakh language throughout the country and development of conventional education and traditions. Nevertheless, investments to this field cannot solve a broad range of problems people face every day, for example, low quality of roads and omission of expensive equipment in medical centers.
Regarding solutions to previously described problems, the second direction for governmental investments is more reasonable and wise because it enhance average quality of life in a country and make citizens’ lives more comfortable and easier resulting in increased life longevity and higher productivity. Refreshed infrastructure can exemplify that claim: people experience reduced rates of stress in everyday life due to well-built roads, gas and petroleum stations and schools, consequently, having higher rate of happiness and amount of inner energy. However, lack of diverse investments may cause social conflicts and misunderstandings between people with different views and preferences, so, the most correct way to allocate money is to consider all of the interest in the societies and have diverse system of investments.
Concluding all the previously written claims, it is important to proclaim that languages preversation still has a significant role and must not be ignored by governments due to high cultural importancy, however, investments in healthcare and infrastructure should be primary in order to improve people’s lives.
