In recent years, as a result of sports events held in countries, sport has gained popularity. In this regard, some people think that governments should invest in sports facilities for athletes, while other people believe that providing those facilities for general public is a better choice. However, I am in favour of the idea that authorities should allow both parties: sportspeople and ordinary people to have access to sports.
On the one hand, providing sports facilities for athletes improves their physical abilities. As elite sportspeople can reach quicker results, it could lead to a country’s excellence in sports competitions. Top athletes often find it difficult to maintain their physicality because of financial problems. A case in point is that some athletes invest in themselves individually such as buying proper equipment and making expenses on food rich in calories. If governments supported athletes and make training free for them, it would become affordable for them to train and they could be motivated.
Conversely, equipping general public with sports equipments can be a great way to encourage people to take up sports and increase general public health. It could provide healthy lifestyle, making physical activity a priority. If a new gym was opened at schools or in neighbourhoods, local people could come to train and to get fit. Another benefit worth noting is that local people can develop strong social bonds with their neghbours and spend their time wisely.
However, from my own perspective, governments should make sport accessible to anyone, because this can not only help sports spread across country but serve as an initiative to make the public as a pool of sportspeople. It is critical for governments to make their nation helathies and thus happier, as healthy people are important capitals of a country.
To conclude, while providing facilities for athletes may seem reasonable, it would be better to encourage public to take up sports.
