Although several individuals believe that international movies and TV shows provide some benefits to the culture of a country, others believe that producing these programs would be more preferable. From my perspective, both of these categories are equally crucial, as these will help to understand other cultures as well as can promote their own local traditions.
On the one hand, I believe that international movies and shows are known not only for their representation of different cultures but also for the quality of movies. First of all, people are always interested to know about different cultures, and foreign movies and shows is one of the best ways to acquire that knowledge. Additionally, these movies and programs are more qualityful compared to local movies, as their cinematography, directions, acting, and vfx are much improved. Moreover, top movies, which are created by greate directors with their uniqre stories, are not possible to watch and can not inspire the local directors thinking, if these movies are not imported.
On the other hand, I would argue that in an era of globalization, domestic movies and television channels are vital for maintaining the different cultural features of each country. One reason is that national films and telecasts could provide viewers with insightful information about local traditions, which can not be found in foreign movies or TV shows. Another reason is that local film makers sometimes think out of the box and create some unique content, which needs to promote globally for international viewers so that they can learn about the culture. For instance, the movie Paracite won an Oscar for the first time not as an international film, which was a Korean movie that represent their own traditions.
In conclusion, it appears to me that the governments should keep a balance between local and foreign films and telecasts to maintain their original traditions as well as to absorb good cultural practices of other nations.
